In what situations do nose patients apply for the operation?

They experience a justified anxiety for many reasons, such as fear of surgery, fear of pain, fear of poor outcome.
In which cases should rhinoplasty be performed?
Rhinoplasty is an operation that is applied both visually and health-wise. In general, aesthetic nose surgery is performed on the visual sense of dislike of the shape of the nose. In addition, rhinoplasty surgeries are also performed to correct the deformity that develops due to traumas. Nose aesthetics can be performed due to complaints such as the nose is nasal hump, long, the tip of the nose is low, the size of the nostrils or asymmetry.
Is there an age limit for rhinoplasty?
As it is foreseen that the musculoskeletal system will complete its adequate development in nasal aesthetic surgeries, children are expected to complete bone development. Nose aesthetics are based on the development of bone and cartilage structure, not the age limit. But prominent ear surgeries, which complete their development faster than the nose, can be performed even at the age of 6, considering the child’s psychology. Although it is not exactly the upper limit in plastic surgery, it should be considered that anesthesia and postoperative complications may increase in later ages. However, depending on the general condition of the patient, if there are not different conditions that will prevent the patient from receiving anesthesia, plastic surgery can be performed.
Is there a difference between male rhinoplasty and female rhinoplasty?
There are aesthetic differences between the male nose and the female nose. The criteria for this is usually the angle the nose makes with the lip. While it is about 90 degrees in men, this angle is slightly more in women. In other words, the female nose should be more upturned than the male. In plastic surgery, the surgical principles applied in male or female nose surgery are the same; however, the amount of measurements and angles vary here. The tip and width of the snout are more prominent in males. It is necessary that the passage of the back and tip of the nose is ambiguous and that the angle of the nose lip is not feminine in appearance.
Can concha and nasal congestion operations be performed simultaneously with rhinoplasty?
The structures of the nose, called concha, provide the air inhaled from the nose to be heated and moistened. The growth of concha, that is concha hypertrophy, can also be confused with diseases such as adenoid and septum curvature among the people.
Concha in three rows on the side walls of the nasal cavity, especially in the lower part of them, can generally grow due to allergic reactions or secondary causes of septum curvatures. Problems that cause nasal congestion, such as concha, curvature of the septum, can be corrected simultaneously with rhinoplasty.
What is nasal tip aesthetics?
Nasal tip aesthetics is a surgical procedure in which the cartilage at the tip of the nose is shaped. The cartilage at the tip of the nose can be shaped and the angle of the nose and lips can be increased and decreased. While the nasal tip aesthetics is performed, the nostrils can be intervened. This procedure is preferred in patients who do not have a nasal hump but have a low tip of the nose and have problems with the nostrils, or a very large tip of the nose.
Are the nasal hump, nasal bone or nasal reduction surgeries difficult operations?

The tampons used in the past were of a cotton structure and were attached to the inside of the nose to cause bleeding. Silicon tampons used today do not cause such problems.
Can people who have sinusitis have rhinoplasty surgery?
Although those who have sinusitis do not have any problems in having rhinoplasty surgery; patients suffering from sinusitis are more likely to be operated after eliminating conditions that cause sinusitis and can be corrected by surgery.
What should the patient pay attention to before rhinoplasty?
Since very sensitive operations are performed in nose surgery, it is desirable to have as little bleeding as possible. The most important part of rhinoplasty is to create a bloodless environment. During aesthetic surgery, this environment is created by using special drugs. However, there are situations in which the patient should pay attention before the operation process.
You should inform the doctor and anesthesiologist who will perform the aesthetic surgery before the surgery and all the details about your medicines and general health.
- You should remove jewelry and accessories and clean the makeup and nail polish on your nails when coming to the operation.
- You can stop taking blood thinners such as aspirin at least 1 week before your doctor’s control.
- You should share this with your doctor if you are experiencing flu or cold.
- Since herbal teas such as green tea may increase bleeding, avoid foods and beverages that will cause bleeding before surgery. (Ginger, turmeric, garlic, red wine, some kinds of peppers, olive oil)
- Although women’s menstrual period is not a medical obstacle to surgery, surgery is not appropriate during these periods because it may increase edema that may occur after.
- Since smoking can negatively affect the healing process, the patient should be informed in this respect.
Is there a season for rhinoplasty?
Generally, rhinoplasty does not have a season. However, while it is a problem that the nasal plaster can be loosened more easily as a result of sweating in hot weather, these problems are not experienced because the materials used in recent years provide air permeability. On the other hand, there are cases that patients who have rhinoplasty in summer should pay attention to.
During the healing process of the wound, there is a possibility that the color of the surgical area may become darker with the effect of the sun and tanning. Sunscreen creams and hats should be used as recommended by the doctor to protect against the effects of the sun. Sunglasses, which are used more often in the summer months, should not be used after surgery. After surgery, you should not enter the sea or pool for a period of time recommended by your plastic surgeon.
How many hours does rhinoplasty take?
Rhinoplasty surgery depends on the operation to be performed. If the patient does not have septum curvature or different problems, the operation may take 2-2,5 hours. If only the tip of the nose will be shaped, this process becomes shorter. However, with rhinoplasty, a deformity in the nose, called secondary surgery previously operated on the patient, the duration of complicated surgeries such as making the nose again from the ribs can last up to 6-7 hours.
Is there a lot of bleeding during rhinoplasty?
Since the nose surgery is performed in millimetric operations, it is not desirable to have bleeding in the surgeries. This type of surgery may make it difficult for the surgeon to perform a bleeding nose, as well as increase swelling and bruising after the operation. For this reason, atraumatic method called bleeding is the least of the nasal cartilage membrane and bone membrane by entering the techniques are preferred. Is there any scar left after rhinoplasty?

How long does it take to go down for the swelling and bruising to occur after rhinoplasty?
Sometimes bruising is not observed in rhinoplasty according to the type of trauma. Depending on the procedure to be performed, swelling and bruising may vary. Bruising begins to turn yellow within 1 week and becomes invisible. On the 2nd day after surgery, swelling and edema are usually at the highest level. In most patients, the majority of the edema passes at 1 week, while a small portion of the edema can last up to 3 months.
